Total Engagement: The Long Circle Artist Group
Taught by Arunima Orr

"If you're going to be an artist, all life is your subject. All your experience is part of your art. A youngster told me recently that he was going to give himself a year to see if he has talent. A year! It takes a lifetime to see what you have. Art is total engagement." —Ben Shahn

The Long Circle Artist Group (LCAG) is an advanced group that exists to serve those who have demonstrated a commitment to their art life, and who wish to develop the practices, techniques, inner connections, vision, artistry and hardiness that will lead to creating works of art over time. Our artists are writers, musicians and storytellers, photo-graphers and multimedia performers as well as visual artists in all visual arts media—drawing, painting, collage, clay and three-dimensional play and installation.

The LCAG meets on three-day weekends. In order to be a member of the LCAG, you must attend two of the four weekends scheduled in a session. You may attend all weekends, space permitting.

Prerequisite: Creative Arts Practice or Year-Long and approval of instructor.

Reawaken the Body: The Joy of Conscious Movement
Taught by Cynthia McGahan

Do you seek a vibrant body? Would you like to rediscover the freedom of movement and reconnect with the wisdom of your body? This workshop will renew the body's memory of full motion. Through simple movement explorations designed to enhance your awareness, you can release tension held in the body, creating more spaciousness on a cellular level. When the body feels relaxed, life is effortless.

In this workshop, you will:

  • Create roadmaps for body awareness
  • Rebalance daily postures
  • Reclaim the power of the body's voice
  • Reenergize core support systems
  • Revel in the body experiences

As the structural body's rhythm, balance and fluidity is supported by increased movement vocabulary, the everyday activities of sitting, standing and walking become infused with vibrant aliveness.

Whether you are an avid exerciser or simply wanting a more embodied life, come and enjoy this experiential workshop.

All bodies are welcome; no previous experience is needed.

Soaring & Sorting: Understanding and Enhancing Your Brain's Potential
Taught by Noa Benamotz

Are there differences between the brains of artists and scientists? How can one shift between analytical and intuitive modes of thinking? What's the relationship between thinking styles and emotions? How do intentions affect actions, and thoughts affect "reality"?

Explore these and other fascinating questions about the brain while learning to identify, access, navigate and balance the brain's endless potential. The jumping-off point for this workshop is Dr. Jill Taylor's 18-minute talk, "My Stroke of Insight". Participants can find the video at www.TED.com and/or watch it at the workshop.

Weekly Drop-In Creative Playgroup
facilitated by Rising Moon

Allergic to the stage? Not an issue. Can't carry a tune in a bucket? Fabulous. Don't know your left from your right? Excellent. Don't even know how to finger paint? Perfect!

Each week will feature a unique arts experience designed to loosen you up and provide you an opportunity to experiment and to surprise yourself. You don't have to have a plan; you don't have to pre-register; you don't even have to know what you're doing. Just show up and see what happens!

This is a weekly drop-in class. Everyone is welcome to come to any and all classes, but please arrive a few minutes early to sign in and get settled.
